Ithacans will be treated to “Fiber and Folk” at a special farm tour at Laughing Goat Fiber Farm, on West Hill in the town of Ithaca. The free tour will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 11 at 1485 Mecklenburg Road (Route 79).
Laughing
Goat Fiber Farm raises Angora and Cashmere goats as well as
alpaca and sheep.
Visitors will be able to view all 14 of their 2009
baby goats as well as learn about the other animals in the 47
animal fiber herd.
Throughout the afternoon there will be

a goat playground
musical entertainment,
demonstrations of fiber farm skills, and
short talks about the fiber to yarn process.

The folk music portion of the tour will feature the music of singer/songwriter Dan Pelletier. Hailing from Croton, New York, Dan’s festival appearances have included the Kerrville Folk Festival, South Florida Folk Festival, Cottonwood Festival, Summerfest, Clearwater Festival and the Greenwich Folk Festival. He has won the USA Songwriting Competition (1st prize for lyrics, 3rd prize overall), Plowshares Songwriting Contest, South Florida Folk Festival Performing Songwriter Contest, Rose Garden Coffeehouse Performing Songwriter Contest and the first prize in the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest – Folk Category. Pelletier will be playing short concerts for farm tour visitors throughout the afternoon. He will also be performing Friday evening in downtown Ithaca at the Downtown Summer Concert series.
